Bonito's Bits of Creativity

Here you'll find part of the growing collection of creative bits that my Uncle Bonito has been making since his slightly trippy creative epiphany.

If you’ve not read the ‘About’ page….to sum it up, in Bonito’s own words:

To put it another way, I think since his epiphany, he now sees infinfite possibilites and interpretations and feels more connected to something more holistic, deeper, freer and present with creativity..."well sumat like that, cockers" Bonito says.

There's a real mixture really, like mixed media paintings, films, stories, zines, even videos of him singing and dancing.

So here's a few of the things he has created:

"Painting misen into a
SUEDE album cover"

Bonito has always felt sorry for the sad naked lad on the bed, on that album cover for the band Suede. So he painted himself in, just to check in on him, but to not be pushy though and leave him be if he’s just doing his own thing.

Banned Advert Artwork

This is a painting/photo collage about his brief and unintentionally erotic moment as the face of Cadbury’s Flake (for their Cyprus Branch) in the 80’s.

You can hear Bonito talk about this event on the Video page.

The advert got pulled cos everyone caught wind of the "Rudy" (as Bonito calls it) nature of the advert, and the viewing figure surge knocked out the radar at the RAF base, so it was declared a National security risk.

The artwork depicts the original controversial moment, involving a beautiful Cypriot field, 2 Bonitos, a pack of Flakes and “a surprisingly comfy wheelbarrow”.

Ps Bonito has said that he did the painting with “current versions of misen.”

So to set the scene fully, just imagine a pair of younger, topless and chocolate-covered, and very eager, yet innocent, Bonitos 👍

Drawing Swayze
But not like Swayze
But that's more than ok

Bonito has a thing for Patrick Swayze, loves his films, (actually feels sorry for him in a bunch of his films*) and just found himself drawing a moment from the classic 80’s film Dirty Dancing. His Swayze looks nowt like Patrick Swayze circa 1987, but now after his creative epiphany, he sees this Swayze in a different way... like a Swayze from a different dimension, who’s got something to say.

*if ya interested, Bonito says he thinks it’s something to do with a vulnerability that Swayze leans into, with his performances - maybe sharing more than what other lads would do in big films back then, where they might keep it all air tight and tough lipped.

"But wi Swayze" Bonito says,"it's like no matter if he wa a rate dirty dancer, a chuffin lovely ghost, or a philosophical bouncer for a newly refurbished roadside bar….the lad wa processing the job-lot of the human condition, in the respective role he was playing. And maybe processing too much, cos I wa far too emotional, far too often, watching his films."

Dog Frisk Drawings and Related Paraphernalia

IMG_1477.jpeg

Some drawings from Bonito’s 'How To Frisk a Suspicious Dog at Larnaca Airport in Cyprus' drawings (you can watch his video about this on the 'Videos' page).

The Gandalf one is from a memory of a plaque that used to be at the airport, ("when times were chill" he says) when the customs teams had a little playful moment in commissioning the ‘This too shall be frisked’ plaque. He said they wanted to bring a little humour to the whole process, and stir things up… but also give a firm ‘no bullshit/no favours‘ message, albeit playfully (like Gandalf’s vibe they said).

Though it might have been a bit odd and confusing, like, for the general public.

It's been really nice to see him enjoy the drawing process too, not lost on the destination - so I might get him to do a talk about em.

And yeah there’s more about this Dog Frisking story to come, like the sad moment when the dogs dancing legs can’t sustain the love of the dance anymore.

Ps he insists that it’s all legit, and no bullshit, so make of it all what ya will ✌️🌬️♾️

THERE ARE MORE CREATIVE BITS TO COME

Speaking of which...

A BONITO BONUS:

To encourage me to share things that I’ve made, Bonito wanted to ‘help’ introduce an
Ode To Star Wars’ song that I did, by dragging a banner across the deserty plains of Tatooine.

Click here to see both my song,
and Bonito’s anti-gravity issues.
